PalaeoArc: 1st International Conference on ‘Processes and Palaeo-environmental changes in the Arctic: from past to present’

20th – 24th May, 2019

The Faculty of Geographical and Geological Sciences at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań is delighted to be hosting the 1st ‚Processes and Palaeo-environmental changes in the Arctic: from past to present’ (PalaeoArc) Conference on May 20th – 24th, 2019.

The PalaeoArc is a network research programme aiming to further understand past and present environmental changes and processes in the Arctic. It is the successor of the previous network programmes of PONAM (Polar North Atlantic Margins), QUEEN (Quaternary Environment of the Eurasian North), APEX (Arctic Palaeoclimate and its Extremes) and, most recently, PAST Gateways (Palaeo-Arctic Spatial and Temporal Gateways).

The conference will include oral and poster presentations over 2.5 days and a mid-conference field trip. Ice-breaker and conference dinner organised in a historical part of the city of Poznań will provide an opportunity to taste Polish cuisine. Moreover, workshops for young researchers will be offered.

We welcome contributions on the overall theme of Arctic palaeo-environmental change and modern processes. We invite contributions particularly on:

  1. Role and dynamics of polar ice sheets and ice caps
  2. Role and dynamics of high latitude ocean and sea ice
  3. Role and dynamics of terrestrial environment and landscape evolution
  4. Climate response to, and interaction between, different parts of the Arctic System

The deadline for registration (by e-mail) is 10 March, 2019.
